Found an Occupation — Spreading the Joy of Ozark Mountain Motoring!

——————

An enthusiastic group of Iowa MINI motorists recently joined our good friends from Nebraska, Colorado, and Missouri at the fourth annual High Plains Motoring Society (HPMS) gathering. This year’s event, “MINIs Occupy Branson”, was hosted in Branson, MO from 10-13 May and included driving routes on some of the best Ozark Mountain twisties in the area.

Highlights included the group caravan south on Thursday, meeting and motoring with new EIMers Jerry S. and Kristen, our adjacent condos at the Wyndham Mountain View (thank you Bill and Alyce S.!), the awesome first evening Balcony Party (thank you Daryl H.!), catching up with dear friends Steve, Peggy, and Michael from Council Bluffs/Omaha, first morning at the Chateau at the Lake, having the MINI5280 Club leadership join us for Friday’s drive (in the picture above), the incredible drive on AR-123, our stop at Scenic Point, lunch at the Ozark Cafe in Jasper, the pontoon boat party out on Table Rock Lake (thank you Captain Cindy D.!), the “underway replenishment” of libation over to the other boat, great southern BBQ, glow-in-the-dark party favors, the group assembly on Saturday and the group photo, Kristen’s “shoulder picture,” more great roads around the Lake, hillbilly souvenirs, zip lines and butterflies, getting rowdy at the Rowdy Beaver, the impromptu Saturday evening farewell social, and even the trip home on Sunday although it was a bit sad for the fun to end!

A sizable collection of fun photos from this event are in our Photo Gallery and are directly accessible using the following link:

EIM is Cruisin’ for Camp Courageous – May 20th

EIM is Cruisin' for Camp Courageous - May 20th

EIM is always on the lookout for fun gatherings that also support a worthy charitable cause — and now here’s your chance to enjoy your MINI and help out a great local service at the same time.

Cruisin’ for Camp Courageous is one of Iowa’s largest and well known charity car shows. The event is being held on Sunday, May 20th and is accompanied by a wide variety of food, music, crafts, antiques, silent and live auctions, and many other neat activities — something for everyone in the family.

Camp Courageous is a not-for-profit, year-round respite care and recreational facility for individuals of all ages with disabilities. The Camp serves nearly 6,000 individuals with disabilities in a year-round program. They’re located just southeast of Monticello, IA which means getting there is an easy Sunday drive for most of us.

Everything you need to know, including registration instructions, is available on the event website which you can access with the following link:

If you decide to register, please click on the **Read More** button below for EIM notification instructions. Our gracious organizer Ron S. is working to get all of our MINIs located together at the show and would love to know you’re coming. Thanks much!

EIM Prepares to Occupy Branson

For the fourth consecutive year, MINI enthusiasts from Eastern Iowa MINIs will be participating in the annual High Plains Motoring Society (HPMS) event, a mid-country alternative to MINIs on the Dragon held during the month of May for MINIs from the Mountain and Midwestern states. As the name of this year’s event implies, “MINIs Occupy Branson” is being held in and around Branson, MO from 10-13 May. A large and excited group of EIMers is looking forward to taking in the sights and sounds of Branson, enjoying each others’ company, reconnecting with friends made at past HPMS gatherings, and (of course) lots of great motoring on the twisty and scenic roads in the area.

Check back here on this site in mid-May for a full report and pictures of all the fun!

MINIs Emerge Victorious in Local Skirmish

MINIs Emerge Victorious in Local Skirmish

An enthusiastic and sizable group of our MINI friends enjoyed a great day of spirited motoring in and around the bluffs and hills of NE Iowa and SE Minnesota at our Third EIM Border Skirmish Drive yesterday. The weather remained cooperative all day allowing us to spread our wings on some of the best twisty roads in the region, including some new roads that will certainly remain among our favorites.

It was fun having our MINIs “inspected” by the famous Decorah Eagles. The chicken BBQ at Covey’s Little Miami was an unexpected bonus, and it was great to cap off the day at Coopers Pub in Decorah with refreshments and the sharing of motoring stories from the day. Thanks to everyone for coming out and joining us!

We’ll be adding pictures from this event in our Photo Gallery, directly accessible using the following link:

Celebrating the New Season of MINI Motoring at Granite City

Celebrating the New Season of MINI Motoring at Granite City

A delightful crowd of 39 enthusiasts and 23 MINIs shrugged off a bit of morning drizzle and joined us for the 5th Annual EIM “Spring has Sprung” Meet-n-Eat at the Granite City Food and Brewery in Cedar Rapids yesterday. It was great to get back together to celebrate the passing season and to greet several new local MINI fans.

We offer our sincerest appreciation to the folks from the Willis Auto Campus and MINI of Des Moines and especially to Dave, Lori, Jeremiah, and Jake for their participation; for giving us a closer look at both the new MINI Coupe and the new MINI Roadster, for the generous T-shirt give-away, and for all of their insights and companionship. Special thanks also to Greg B. and Roger S. from the Central Iowa MINI Club for making the trip over from Des Moines to break bread with us and to share lots of great information on plans for the upcoming MINI Takes the States 2012 in July. Thanks also to all of our new MINI friends who joined us too — hope you had fun!

Pictures from this event are in our Photo Gallery, and are directly accessible using the following link:

We have a commitment from the folks at MINI of Des Moines – Willis Auto Campus to join us. As available, they’re planning on bringing along one of their new MINI Roadster or MINI Coupe models to show off for our benefit.
